Running in the Philippines

Image
Running in the Philippines Yesterday, decided I must go for a run, so got up early and went for a run along by the sea in Dumaguete. However, I clearly didn't get up earlier enough... although there was no one around, but that was because I was too late. Ran for 20 minutes until the heat was overwhelming. Today, decided I must go for a run, so 5.30 am I was up and down by the sea, and guess what so were the majority of the locals doing their exercise... So, I ran with the locals, which was great fun. Although, one chap did have a baby goat running with him.

Simillian University

Simillian University  Great day meeting colleagues and students from Simillian University and discussing culture and dementia. I am always  inspired when working with future healthcare professionals and the insights they bring into the profession. Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow!  I even had time to take a walk along by the sea on the way back to my hotel as such a beautiful day, which is compared to last night and the tropical storms and power cuts!!

Manila to Dumaguete

Image
Manila to Dumaguete I have flown from Manila to Dumaguete and the contrast between the two is striking, going from the capital to university town (this is what I was told, and technically this is correct). I am in awe, I wish I had longer to really understand the culture and the impact of dementia for people here in the Philippines. I am really  looking forward to meeting all the  students tomorrow. But, first here are some pictures from my flight this morning leaving Manila... and arriving in Dumaguete...

Mother's Day I am thankful for having the opportunity to spend some time today with my three children and two grandchildren before leaving good old Blighty and travelling to the Philippines, New Zealand and Japan. First stop (well after a number of flights over a couple of days...)  Dumaguete, Philippines
